About the Event

Washington County’s Fix-It Clinics are free, hands-on events where community members can bring in broken household items and receive expert guidance on how to repair them. Volunteer fixers help attendees troubleshoot and fix everything from lamps and vacuums to clothing, electronics, and small appliances—keeping usable items out of the landfill and empowering residents with new skills and confidence in their ability to repair and reuse.

These events are part of Washington County’s ongoing effort to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and extend the life of everyday items. By encouraging repair over replacement, Fix-It Clinics help conserve resources, save money, and reduce the community’s overall environmental footprint.

Sustainable Stillwater MN is a proud supporter of the Fix-It Clinics because the values at the heart of these events mirror our mission: to create a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient community. Supporting repair culture helps combat throwaway habits, reduces the demand for raw materials, and engages people in tangible climate action. It also aligns with Sustainable Stillwater MN’s focus on community-based solutions that inspire and educate while reducing carbon emissions.

By working together to fix what’s broken, residents not only save items from the landfill—they strengthen community connections and gain valuable knowledge that supports long-term environmental sustainability in Stillwater and beyond.
