About the Event

Washington County’s Halloween Costume Swap is a free, community-oriented event that encourages families to trade gently used costumes and accessories—reducing waste and giving new life to festive wear that might otherwise sit unused or end up in the trash. Whether your child has outgrown last year’s costume or you're just looking for something new-to-you, this fun, sustainable swap helps everyone gear up for Halloween without spending a dime. Donations will be accepted at designated drop-off locations in the weeks leading up to the event.

Sustainable Stillwater MN proudly supports the Halloween Costume Swap as part of its ongoing commitment to building a more sustainable and resourceful community. This event reflects our mission to reduce waste, promote reuse, and encourage thoughtful consumption. Costumes are often only worn once, and swapping them extends their lifespan, decreases demand for newly manufactured goods, and helps reduce the carbon footprint of Halloween celebrations.

By choosing to swap rather than shop, participants are taking meaningful steps toward environmental sustainability—and proving that being green can also be fun, festive, and community-driven.
