Join Bird City Stillwater for an inspiring day of birding and community science at the 2024 Annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC), hosted by the St. Paul Bird Alliance (formerly St. Paul Audubon). Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a newcomer eager to connect with nature, this event offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital bird conservation efforts.
Date: Saturday, December 28, 2024
Why Participate?
The Christmas Bird Count is the longest-running community science project in the United States, with a history spanning over 100 years. This incredible initiative helps researchers track the health and status of bird populations across North America. Data collected during the CBC informs critical reports such as Audubon's Climate Change Report and the State of Birds Report, making every bird you count part of a bigger conservation story.
What to Expect
Participants will count every bird they see or hear, including each individual of every species. The results will be compiled and shared on the National Audubon Society website, contributing to a legacy of scientific discovery and environmental stewardship.
You can join the count by:
Walking designated routes
Driving through assigned zones
Observing birds from the comfort of your feeders
Rain, snow, or shine, the count will take place, so dress warmly and prepare for the Minnesota winter weather!
Are you new to the Christmas Bird Count?
No problem! First-time participants will have the opportunity to team up with experienced birders in Zone 6, ensuring a fun and educational experience.
