Millions of people in Africa are in dire need of mobility devices, yet many cannot afford them. To address this pressing issue, the Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club is partnering with Crutches 4 Africa to collect and distribute mobility devices to those in need.
On August 11th, during the Bridge the Valley - Bike Rally, Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club will host a collection point for Crutches 4 Africa. Participants and members of the public are encouraged to bring any unused mobility devices to donate. These contributions will have a significant impact on individuals struggling with mobility challenges.

Crutches 4 Africa aims to collect 3,000 pieces of mobility equipment and ship them to Africa for local distribution. The Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club is leading this effort in the local community, working to fill a shipping container with donated devices. Crutches 4 Africa will then handle the importation and distribution of these devices in Africa.
Many community members have mobility devices that are no longer needed or are stored away, and local charities such as Goodwill may not accept them. By donating, individuals can help repurpose these items and make a meaningful difference.

About Crutches 4 Africa
Founded by Dave Talbot, a polio survivor, Crutches 4 Africa repurposes surplus mobility equipment and ships it to developing countries, distributing it free of charge. The organization has already assisted 212,000 recipients, transforming lives by providing much-needed mobility support.
Talbot’s mission began in 2005 when he witnessed the challenges faced by individuals with mobility impairments in Uganda. Recognizing the potential of lightly used mobility devices in the U.S., he founded Crutches 4 Africa to repurpose these items.
Sustainability Impact
Reusing old equipment, such as mobility devices, is a powerful practice that aligns seamlessly with sustainability principles. By donating or repurposing these items, we not only extend their lifespan but also reduce waste and minimize the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new products. This practice conserves resources, decreases landfill contributions, and lowers carbon emissions from production processes.
Embracing reuse fosters a circular economy, where products are continuously cycled through various stages of utility, thereby supporting a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. Donating unused mobility devices is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to both environmental sustainability and social good.
