Since joining Sustainable Stillwater MN (SSMN) in April 2023 as the Program Administrator & Event/Outreach Coordinator, Ami Voeltz has been an integral part of the organization's mission to build a resilient and sustainable community. Her passion, leadership, and expertise have strengthened SSMN’s ability to connect with the community through events, outreach, and organizational initiatives.
In her early role as Program Administrator, Ami supported the organization’s workgroups (programs & projects), managed essential administrative tasks, and ensured seamless operations. She quickly became a trusted leader who could balance the complexities of multiple responsibilities while building bridges between workgroups, the Board of Directors, and the community.

A Shift to Events, Outreach, and Equity in 2025
This year, Ami’s role has evolved into Events and Outreach Manager, allowing her to focus on creating impactful experiences that inspire action and deepen community engagement. As SSMN prepares to welcome an Executive Director, Ami continues to shape SSMN’s community-facing initiatives while taking on additional responsibilities, including leading the organization’s efforts to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its work.
Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
One of Ami’s most significant contributions in 2025 is her leadership in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout SSMN’s work. Recognizing that sustainability and equity go hand in hand, Ami has been instrumental in ensuring that SSMN’s efforts reflect and serve the diverse needs of the community.
Her contributions include:
Building Inclusive Programs: Ami has worked to ensure that SSMN’s events, outreach efforts, and initiatives are inclusive and accessible to all community members, regardless of background, identity, or ability.
Fostering Community Conversations: She has helped create spaces where residents can share their experiences and perspectives on sustainability, equity, and community resilience.
Strengthening Partnerships: Ami has cultivated relationships with local organizations and groups that serve underrepresented communities, helping SSMN broaden its impact and foster meaningful collaboration.
Guiding Organizational Equity: Ami leads efforts to evaluate SSMN’s policies, practices, and programs through an equity lens. Her leadership ensures that equity is not just a stand-alone initiative but a core value embedded in everything SSMN does.
Transforming Events and Outreach
As Events and Outreach Manager, Ami continues to elevate SSMN’s presence in the Stillwater area. From coordinating the Valley Eco Fair to the Annual Fundraiser Gala, she ensures that each event aligns with SSMN’s mission of fostering eco-friendly living and community action. Additionally, Ami’s outreach strategies have expanded SSMN’s connections with schools, churches, service clubs, and businesses, creating a robust network of sustainability advocates.
Ami’s ability to integrate sustainability, equity, and community engagement makes her a vital leader in SSMN’s efforts to inspire meaningful change. Whether she’s organizing an event, building relationships, or championing equity, Ami’s work exemplifies SSMN’s commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and environmentally conscious future.
