For All Ages, Sunday, August 15th
Sunday, August 15th, 2021, Stillwater hosts what is expected to be the first of many annual Bridge the Valley Bike Rallies, aimed at introducing folks to the healthy joys of bicycling as a great way to get around. The event is tied to Stillwater's grand opening celebration of the Lift Bridge remodel and the Loop Trail that happens one day earlier, August 14. There will be scenic, bike-friendly, blacktopped routes with rides for all ages and skill levels, sponsored by Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club and co-hosted by Sustainable Stillwater MN volunteers.
Choose from 5-, 10-, 25-, 40-, 60-, or 80-mile loops. The 80-mile Gravel Challenge has timed sections – combine the 40- and 60-mile routes for a "century ride." To register for this event go here. This bike rally puts us one step closer to national Bicycle Friendly Community certification. The BFC certification is our bike-friendly workgroup's top priority for Stillwater (See more on this in the next story below.) Volunteers are needed! To sign up contact rick@sustainablestillwatermn.org.
**Note on sustainability: This event promotes bicycling in Stillwater. As more residents get engaged in bicycling, it will become more acceptable as alternate means of transportation, and a preferred method of exercise and activity. This translates into a more healthy and connected community. It also promotes business awareness of bicycling as a means of business growth.**
